Appearance

The object as it is given to us through space, time and the categories — the only thing we can know.

Appearance is not illusion: the world of appearances is the real, law-governed world of experience in which physics and everyday life take place. “Appearance” only means that this world is always already structured by the forms of our cognition — in contrast to the unknowable thing in itself.
